The zodiac sign Libra, 23rd September - 22nd October, is ruled by the planet Venus and naturally rules the 7th House. The Libra symbol is the Scales. Libra Archetypes are the Lover, the Artist and the Peacemaker. Libra has the Element of Air, and the polarity Yang, being more outward facing and masculine in energy. Like Libra, Taurus is also ruled by Venus, but has the Element of Earth, and the polarity of Yin which is opposite to Libra's Yang.

Libra thrives on finding a sense of equilibrium between two opposites. Balance, peace, serenity and harmony. They are happiest when floating, unattached to outcomes, seeing both sides of a situation, and not having to choose one.

Strengths and Challenges

Libra uses every experience as an opportunity to find tranquility. Rather than keeping calm by ignoring, avoiding or staying away from trouble, Librans seek situations in which they can practice balance. They are adept at noticing a change in their inner peace, and immediately move to unruffle the ruffled.

Libra is a natural at seeing both sides of a situation, however their challenge comes when having to choose a side where necessary. They like to sit on both sides, no sides, but this can lead to feelings of discontent within, and confusion. Sometimes a Libra has to take sides, even though this tips the scales to one side which they find uncomfortable.
Libra and Astrology
Being ruled by Venus, but an Air sign (as opposed to Libra, an Earth sign), Libra finds beauty by using the mind to return to a place of peace. Libra appreciates beauty, but more as a tool, not something it has to own. Libra's peace is a mental process.

Libra is also moved emotionally. No other sign is so dedicated to relationships with others. The need for balance and harmony, cam make Libra feel like it is only half of something. That there is a 'missing piece' and it must be found to be whole. Once in a relationship however, because of Libra's need for peace, it can choose to 'not rock the boat' and this can lead being dishonest and letting things slide, even though they are hurtful and detrimental to the relationship.

And here in lies the challenge. Libras need to be opening minded and see both sides of the coin, can lead to chronic indecision. In not wanting to choose a path forward because neither seems right or wrong, Libras can lead stagnant, fearful, unfulfilling lives.

In a relationship, not being able to make a decision, whether that be about feelings, whether to have children, or simply voting on a holiday destination, can lead to resentment, distrust and ultimately separation. If your partner never truly knows how you feel or what you are thinking, how can they possible go on?

Remember no two Leos are exactly the same. And whilst some of the key words used in pop astrology may indeed be ascribed correctly, best not to rely on generalisations. Your Natal Chart will show where your Leo sign (ruled by the Sun) is placed specifically, as well as the corresponding House. Other aspects (planets and signs that are geometrically aligned), and many other considerations make up the total sum of a Natal Chart.
